About the Foundation
Founded in 2011 by Mr. E. Glenn Ward, Jr., Mrs. Adelaide F. Ward and several family members and friends, the Elijah Glenn Ward Family Foundation is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Foundation is the parent organization for both its research branch, Catalyst Educational Research Center, Inc. and its educational branch, Ward College. It provides the orientation and infrastructure, with respect to both culture and operations, that is needed to support these organizations. This infrastructure includes mission and heritage, governance, development and planning, operations, fundraising, and endowment.
The mission of the Elijah Glenn Ward Family Foundation is to provide educationally supportive programs and services to men, women and children from low-income and minority communities in the Chicago metropolitan area.
The vision of the Foundation is to foster, among our brothers and sisters in need of second chances in life, a deepened and more effective integration into family, community and society through the optimal development of personal, creative, academic and professional potential. The Foundation nurtures this potential by adopting culturally-relevant approaches leading to outcomes that ultimately serve to nourish, stabilize and strengthen all of our communities. Our vision emerges from a deep sense of participation in, and commitment to, social processes that seek to bring to all people Truth and a greater Life.
